I've enjoyed other cookbooks by this author so I was excited when I saw that Rachel Rappaport had written a new cookbook featuring Frank's RedHot sauce. I have quite a few family and friends who will be getting this cookbook and a variety pack of Frank's sauces for the holidays this year, because we all love spicy food and getting together to eat and drink.I've made several of the recipes already and have found them to be easy to follow (like the ones in Ms. Rappaport's other books). I like that she uses "real" ingredients instead of relying on processed foods in her recipes. I also love how the recipes are for foods that are somewhat familiar, but usually with a big twist. The four things I've made so far have turned out very well. I made the Deviled Egg Salad to bring for lunch this week, and it was excellent with melba toast (my preferred method for eating egg salad). I am sure it would be good on a sandwich, too.I brought Red Hot Sopes with Slow Cooker Carnitas to a potluck birthday party last week. This was very successful and flavorful. I had 3 people ask me for the recipe.Yesterday for football watching with friends, I made the Guacamole and the Hot-Sauced Kentucky Beer Cheese. There are tons of great recipes for tailgating or sports-watching get-togethers. They're mostly quick and easy to put together, but they taste like you slaved over them. And because it's hot sauce, they make you thirsty, so they go very well with beer or cocktails.I look forward to eventually trying all of these recipes.
